Network Automation & Orchestration Day 2019

Automation is a Journey – Let us begin!

Come. Connect. Eat. Drink. Learn. Enjoy.

10:20 am – AUTLAN – The Automation Journey of an Integrated Telecommunications Company (EN)
Johannes Peternek, Referent IP Platform Engineer, Deutsche Telekom Technik GmbH
Anand Sanghani, Technical Sales Engineer, Itential
“Leading European Telco”: that’s Deutsche Telekom’s aspiration. With a strategy to lead in customer experience, technology and business productivity, Deutsche Telekom has some great aspirations. We are more than an infrastructure company; in this complex digital world we make life easier for people enriching it at every opportunity – at home and at work, anytime, anyplace.
There are significant pressures on our network engineering and operations teams to ensure that the business can meet its objectives in time to market and quality. The existing processes for managing and maintaining our network infrastructure have little automation in place resulting in manual, time consuming activities. In order to achieve our goals, we recognize the need to make efficiencies internally and improve the quality of our network changes and lifecycle management along the way.
The AUTLAN project was initiated to help solve these challenges. Deutsche Telekom selected Cisco NSO and the Itential Automation Platform to help us build an automation solution that would increase efficiencies across our network engineering and operations processes. The beginning of the project would focus on using these tools to automate the configuration of LAN devices (e.g. routers, switches, load balancers and firewalls) and to automate the operational processes involved in upgrading the software on these devices.
As the initial phase of this project is coming to a close, we will present to you some of the challenges we faced and highlight how we were able to overcome them leveraging the power of the Itential Automation Platform and Cisco NSO.

11:15 pm – How IT Organizations can Reduce Network Brownouts (EN)
Roger Vilanova, Solution Sales Manager, Netwrounds
Unexpected and unintentional drops in network quality, so-called network brownouts, cause serious financial damage and frustrate employees and customers.
A survey sponsored by Netrounds reveals that more than 60% of network brownouts are first discovered by internal and external customers, instead of being proactively detected by IT organizations. Our survey concludes that network brownouts can be reduced by actively mimicking customer behavior close to their locations, across the network and application layers. With the adoption of new technologies such as hybrid cloud, SD-WAN and network virtualization, the cost of brownouts is likely to dramatically increase without the deployment of active service assurance solutions.
Companies prioritizing investments in these solutions will enjoy reduced financial damage and can embrace their digital transformation journey with peace of mind.
Netrounds provides a software-based and fully automatable solution for active network testing and monitoring with unmatched measurement capabilities across physical and multi-cloud network environments.

03:15 pm – automate your Security Operations with Ansible (DE)
Götz Rieger, Senior Solution Architect, Red Hat
Automation can help Security Operations to streamline and accelerate many of the investigation and remediation processes performed every single day. Learn how Ansible customers support SecOps and security analysts automating different security platforms to support 3 common use cases: investigation enrichment, threat hunting and remediation.
